Welcome
In Edinburgh in 1934 Margaret Harrison and Davidson Nairn Grant married. I am Margaret Smith and I am one of Margaret and David’s five children. This website traces the family trees of both Margaret and David. The earliest record so far is the marriage of John Fiergreive and Agnes Plaine in Scotland in 1655 - they were Margaret Harrison’s six times great grandparents. However DNA tests have indicated the very earliest origins of the family was as Celts and Norse Vikings (see ‘DNA & Earliest Origins’ in the histories).
The site has been constructed in order that the children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the extended family of Margaret and David can know something of where we all came from. To protect individual’s privacy, the site does not identify any living people
Our family’s ancestors are mainly Scottish but with traces of English and Irish.

There is no one rich or famous in our tree but there are many fascinating people with interesting tales and I hope that, as time goes by, I can add yet more. The stories of these people are told in the histories section and there you will also find information about the places and the times they lived in.
This is a ‘work in progress’ and information will be added as it is gathered. If you can add information about the people or places or events covered by the site, or you just want to make a comment, then do please leave a message in the contact us.
There are gaps that may never be filled and the most wanted page identifies questions still to be answered!
